Come check out the Digital Deluxe Edition of my album, One and Only.

Think of it as an immersive journey down the rickety steps of my basement where, for five days, I’ll share music and videos and bits and pieces of how the songs took shape, fell apart, reappeared, got propped up, and (miraculously) made their way onto a record.

If you're into behind-the-scenes or inside-baseball type stuff, I think you'll enjoy this little tour de basement that's ONLY AVAILABLE RIGHT HERE on this page.

It's all FREE and it's all delivered straight from me to your inbox.

Some shameless promotional quotes

“Riggle demonstrates an uncommon degree of self-awareness and introspection in his lyrics.”
- Ft. Worth Weekly

“In the vein of Beach Boys, Green Day and Violent Femmes, yet unique…"
- Harder Beat

"Enough to make you remember why punk rock is still important."
- Dallas Observer

For me, there are four clear stages of songwriting:

1. The Search

2. The Spark

3. The Delicate Uncovering of…

4.

Just kidding. There isn’t. It’s pretty much all chaos.

In fact, I used to write a weekly music column for a small paper, and as I was running out of ideas, my editor suggested I write about songwriting. “People like that kinda stuff. Just outline your particular process,” he said.

Long story short: I wasn’t just unable to write that column—I also quit the job.

So yeah, deciding that for THIS RECORD I’d actually talk about how the songs arrived? How “my process works”? Kind of nutty.

But hey, it’s something to do on a boring week.

And so ...

Come with me and signup to get the “Digital Deluxe Edition” of One & Only — week-long series of videos and stories diving into:

1. The music

2. The fragile emotional states of an artist

3. The delicate uncovering of…

4.

Just kidding. Not that. Or maybe it is that? Hell, I don’t know. But let’s find out:

One and Only is my 20th (!) physical release as a musician. With fresh studio tracks alongside new live recordings, this album has both the raw, stripped-down-ness and the fully-fleshed-with-polish-ness that I've been aiming for in recent years.

"HUH? You're gonna maile me WHAT??" -You, likely

"I listened to 'One and Only' many times today. I continue to think of it as a very deep mine of wisdom. And the production really pumps. Weird thing is if you were just to read the words, it might seem negative: my whole world crashing down, fell off the deep end, etc. But it doesn't come across as depressing, or anything unduly neurotic. It comes across as something everybody feels. It's like somebody who recognizes things like inevitability and futility, but he is going to try nonetheless. Also, Threatened to give a shit is a really great line. I don't know why, but it is somehow funny and profound at once. So yeah, that song has really been in my head all day."

-John I.

More obligatory aw-shucks-ness

“It’s not often you meet musicians that have talent, love for the scene, compassion, and generosity. Matt has all of these qualities. Lead guitar to harmonica to singing coupled with some humorous stories, Matt’s stage performance and presence brings old school rock melodies back when music was pure. In short, his music makes us forget about today’s troubles even if for a brief time. He is also very generous with supporting other bands on the bill, buying libations for fans, approachable for conversation, and pushing their merch. I know......I’ve seen it in person."

-Chris, The Rusty Nail (Ardmore, PA)
